Today Kaeli and I drove up to Denver to see a pulmonary specialist about her chronic cough. They did a full background, looked at her records and then the doctor was pretty certain after listening to her breathing that her adenoids are enlarged. She said that she has all the signs of that being the case, and gave her an x-ray to check. Sure enough, they are grossly enlarged. They are compressing on her nasal airway and you can see in the x-ray where it narrows considerably, explaining why she breaths through her mouth and snores, etc. She said it more than likely explains the chronic ear infections also ...phew, finally! Her recommendation is to have her adenoids taken out and simultaneously have tubes put in her ears. I attached a website below for you to see what I am talking about, and explain what adenoids are, etc. The surgery itself (the doc says) is outpatient an d no biggy, but she will have to be put under general anaesthetic ... always a concern of ours, but it has to be done. After all this discussion, Ethan came up and she described a lot of the signs he has and is quite sure he has the same problem! So, I am working on getting his adenoids checked as well. We will keep everyone posted, but please keep Kaeli in your prayers!
Love to you all!

I will definitely keep them BOTH in my prayers! But like your doc said, the surgery really isn't a biggie. I had chronic ear infections (at least once a month) and had a really hard time breathing up until I was about 4 years old! The took out my tonsils (because they were swollen as well) adenoids, and put tubes in my ears all in one shot. Ever since then I have only gotten sick about once a year (maybe not even) and have never had another ear infection my entire life! 20 years and no more ear infections! I highly recommend the surgery, she is going to feel SO much better and you are going to feel such relief that your baby is so much better! I am so glad you got answers!
I'm so glad you finally have some answers, even if it does mean surgery. Good luck!
Wow, scary, but must be a relief to know what's going on...
My DH, too, has had this surgery... He still snores though ;) I will keep your babies in my prayers, and you as well. Love you!
