Wow!

It has been a while since I updated last .. and I apologize. Things have been sorta nuts around here. Mike is currently in VA for school and the kids and I fly out there tomorrow to be there for the birth of my niece and a very dear friend's baby as well, not to mention time to spend with fam and friends. The past few weeks I have been busy trying to get school work done, 3 weeks ahead of everyone else so that I can leave with a clear plate and not risk missing assignments. It has also been discovered that I have 2 torn ligaments in my wrist and will need hand surgery. I will meet with the hand surgeon when I return, not looking forward to that, but I am so that it stops hurting! Tomorrow's trip should be interesting with the two kids alone and a brace on my hand .. Yikes!

Ethan got his yellow belt! We are so proud of him, as he is proud of himself! Thursday in karate he was asked to take attendance cards to the desk, and got to do "seargant at arms" which is where he stands at attention at the edge of the karate floor and guards. After, he was so excited and said "Mom, I got to take the attendance cards up and stand seargant at arms, I didn't get to do that when I was a white belt. Now I am a yellow belt and I am special so I get to do things like that". It was so sweet! Unfortunately he will miss his first tournament because we will be out of town, but we will sure try and get him in the next one.
Kaeli is flourishing! She is so smart and so full of herself. She works a crowd already, and especially her daddy. She is a sweetie, with a lot of spunk :-0 It is amazing how much she knows, but is very stubborn and refuses to talk ! She knows what clean up means and put that back and shut that and no and don't touch (do you see a trend! haha). She is our inquisitive one who gets into everything and very mischievious! And boy does she love her brother! She is always right beside him and will crouch down, look right in his face and say "HI!". It is priceless. Ethan follows it up with "Hello sweetie". These kids are too much and melt my heart! Today at Walmart he told the cashier that he was driving me nuts and that I was sick of him ... not sure where he got that from, but he must have caught on to my offput answers and tone to his naughty behavior and words :-)

Ethan will do Tball this summer, and is very excited about it! While he is in summer camp, I will be taking Kaeli to swim at the Y. I look forward to doing that, as she LOVES the water! She played in a mud puddle the other day and could not have been happier!
So, all is good in the Layman world, looking forward to a 3 week vacation in VA. Love to you all!

Catch Up

What could it mean!?

So Mike had his test done to find out the outcome of his 2nd vasectomy. Would you believe it came back that the 2nd did NOT take!? Yes, you read it right! The doctor told him the two options are that he visit a urologist or I get my tubes tied. He said he is not having me do that, so he is going to make an appointment to see a urologist. There is no way I would let him go through another vasectomy, we will just have to wait and see what the specialist says. What could it mean? My mom's theory? She thinks it is a sign we are to have a 3rd baby! I did tell him that if this one didn't take, we would have to try and see if it is meant to be :-) Not sure how I feel about it. I will have to pray on it and see what happens .. but how crazy is this!?

Hand surgery it is!

I just got back from the Ortho doctor and the MRI showed 2 torn ligaments. One on top of my hand in the wrist and one on the side of my hand in my wrist. I will be seeing the hand surgeon either before my VA trip or after, but either way I will have a hand brace on until surgery. Hopefully my big sis and her hubby will be able to come for a visit at the time of surgery and help me out .. we'll see!

The coolest kid on the block ...

Sometimes I am so amazed at the things that come out of Ethan's mouth. He is a great story teller, and we have some of the greatest conversations. I love hearing when other adults enjoy his stories also. He keeps everyone in stitches with his one liners and quirky comments. A friend of mine took Ethan to school yesterday while I took Kaeli for her testing and she said he was just keeping them laughing with his comments. He told her he when he gets big he wanted a car like hers, and it is going to be for daddys only and we can talk about naughty things .. but not if kids are in the car. I have no idea where he comes up with this stuff! Last night before bed he was telling me how his wife's name was going to be Niki and I said Ethan I am your mommy so I cannot be your wife. He said "No, I am just going to marry someone with the name Niki and we are going to have 2 sons and a daughter named Niki too. When my son asks if he can sleep in my bed at night and it is a school night, I am going to let him. I am going to have a big bed like you and that way my son can sleep in it even if it is a school night."
He is doing really well with his speech and articulation. His speech teacher is impressed with how well he is doing, so quickly. He is already putting blends together that she didn't notice until this last class. He is also getting good at correcting himself which is awesome because it means that he is able to hear himself making the incorrect sound and fix it without being told. Next year he will qualify for free PreK through the school district, and they will continue working on his speech, so hopefully that will be better for him than going to 2 different schools 5 days a week.
Kaeli is really becoming quite a turd. She now knows when she is doing something naughty and purposely looks at me and Mike to see if we are "catching" her. She also teases Mike with kisses and turns her head while laughing when he tries to give her one. She is Ethan's little shadow and wherever he is, you usually find his sissy tagging along. She adores her big brother, as he does her! And he does not quite mind playing with her yet! :-)

Why this part?

I have a really good girlfriend here who I have become real close with and thoroughly enjoy her company, her kids and even her husband :-) Our kids get along real well (98% of the time!) Ethan calls her son his "best buddy". Her husband just made officer (YAY for him .. boo for me! haha), meaning they are leaving. Hopefullyl not in the next few months, but it is inevitable. We knew it was inevitable anyways, but it still sucks none-the-less. He is Air Force, we are Navy ... probably won't have the opportunity to cross base paths again. I am extremely sad about it, but trying to just enjoy her and her family while they are still here (hopefully atleast until the late fall). So here I am sad and upset to see them go, I can't even bring myself to tell Ethan yet. He will be devistated! Here comes the start of a Navy brat's life! First we left all his friends in VA to move here, then his little girlfriend Sammy across the street left in August, and now his "best buddy" Carson! Here is praying that they either don't go at all, yeah right, or atleast maybe somewhere close .. probably not. A girl can hope though, right!?
